February 2015, Nicosia – The European Mediterranean Art Association (EMAA) and the Rooftop Theatre Group are pleased to announce that the Open Call for the residency curated by the well-known Croatian curator Branko Franceschi, under his proposed concept title ‘Stimulating synapse’, has been concluded.
EMAA and Rooftop thank the twelve Cypriot artists who have responded to the call with their very interesting project proposals. Based on the projects suggested, the curator invites the two Cypriot artists, Erhan Oze and Eleni Phyla, to participate in this residency. Both artists have accepted the invite, thus the residency group which is coming together in Nicosia, finally consists of five artists:
Carl Michael von Hausswolff, Ana Elizabet, Paul Devens, Erhan Oze and Eleni Phyla
The final exhibition will take place on Wednesday the 18th at the end of the residency and will also be moved to the CVAR Centre for Visual Arts and Research in the old city of Nicosia later on.
A second Open Call for a similar residency program in March 2015 for Young Artists will soon be announced on our website.
All residencies are carried out within the framework of the EU funded project “Confrontation Through Art: Contemporary Art as an Instrument for Reconciliation in Cyprus”, 2014-2017.
